Hi,

I'm a new XOOPS user. My install was successful but I am having trouble getting the index page to work.

At first I had the infamous blank screen. After turning on error logging I did receive this error only:

'Notice [PHP]: Use of undefined constant XOOPS_VERSION - assumed 'XOOPS_VERSION' in file class/template.php line 89'

How can I get past this?

Thanks!

PHP Version 4.3.3RC3
MySQL Version: 4.0.13
Apache Version: 1.3.27
Xoops Version: 2.0.7
OS - Debian (knoppix)

Do you have a DB, with correct name and pass. - Yes

Register Globals, on/off? - ON

Xoops URL? http://joel.is-a-geek.net/xoops
Xoops Path? /var/www/xoops

Can you see install.php? Yes. Install was successful

Can you see index.php? - No. Blank page. When I turn errors on I get

Can you login? - No. I see nothing except the banner when I access the index page.

No, all I see is the XOOPS logo on the upper left, the XOOPS banner in the upper center and a 'footer' directly below the banner that says 'Powered by Xoops...'

No log in capabilities. No Admin panel.

oh.. and teh error message of course.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your response. I'm stumped here!

Joel

One suggestion of many.

Download a new copy and upload to your server again. Do not upload the mainfile.php this time around, since it was created during your instaltion.

By the way, you can login by going to http://joel.is-a-geek.net/xoops/user.php

Essentially whats happening here is that your left blocks are not showing up for some reason. I suspect a corrupt file.

When you go to http://joel.is-a-geek.net/xoops/user.php
It says

Notice [PHP]: Use of undefined constant XOOPS_VERSION - assumed 'XOOPS_VERSION' in file class/template.php line 89

Does this mean that on line 89 on class/template.php there is a corruption? You may be able to fix this small problem instead of realoading XOOPS completely. Check it out.

Also, if anyone knows, why would a single file be corrupt upon download? How would this persons situation have to be different for that to happen?

Problems can happen for instance, it may have extracted wrong, the download may have corrupted etc, there may be bad HD sectors etc
