Not sure this is a XOOPS (2.0.6) core or just the guestbook module issue, I have this 'very simple' error -

When the messages reaches its 'numbers per page', the "next page" (2, 3, 4....) just did not work! If you click on it, the URL DID return a new value (myguestbook/index.php?start=10, 15, 20....) but after reload, the page still (and ALWAYS) stays at the first page.

All other XOOPS original modules work just fine but this guestbook.

My environment -
Windows 2000, IIS with PHP4, MySQL, XOOPS 2.0.6, Using Traditional Chinese.

I started to debug,

1. first we will think it might be the non-western character issues, well, I did create a brand new ENGLISH only sub site, fresh install a XOOPS 2.0.6 and separated database, install the guestbook under it, the results ARE THE SAME!

2. Then I started to think about this might be the guestbook issue, I started to install other guestbooks -
XtremGuestbook, xtremUserGuestbook, XFGuestbook... well, turned out they ALL have the same problems, how come??
You just can't jump to next page(s).

(Even worse, some guestbooks modules does not allow me to enter the "configuration" page in Admin. But they all can allow to enter new messages, Narga's Guestbook has no problem in Admin mode.)

3. Is it a server issue? I started to create another new sub-site and fresh installed an "e-xoops" module, pure english enviroment, added "XtremGuestbook" module for e-xoops and vola! The Guestbook works just fine, you have NO problem to jump in between any page and it displays every page correctly.
(seehttp://www.e-xoops.com)

The issue is, i want to use Xoops, not e-Xoops! And this "simple error" that can't jump to next page of guestbook just drives me crazy. Did anybody have a similar issue?

Guestbook download from
http://www.narga.ws/home/modules/myguestbook/

PS: I did contact the Narga's author, and he was kindly making a revised templates version for me. I did uninstall the guestbook from the Admin Panle and reinstall it, updated the templates (even delete all templates_c), flushed the database, but the results are the same!

This may seem like a silly question, but are you using a masked or cloaked url?

This can create problems sometimes.

I would contact the module author to see if they have a solution or fix.

Thanks guys,
1. no cloaked URL, it's real and long URLs from A to Z.
2. Did contact the Author and obtained a revised template, reinstall but the results the same....

Hope someone has the same enviroment and give me a clue.

Also,
I have turned on debug mode (php/mySQL/Smarty Temp...)
No error found! This is just too weird.

I'm lucky that only a few users submitted to my narga guestbook, so don't need a new page yet.
But maybe some time in the next couple of 100 years.

What is exactly happening? Do you see the buttons for the next page? can you click on the button? What is the effect of clicking on the button?
I ask this because I had a problem with xcgal not being able to make new albums. It turned out that I had a minor error in my Dutch language file. When I turned to english all worked well. I did also get no errors. So maybe your problem is some kind related to a minor error somewhere.

Aloha

Hi (svaha)

Yes I DO see the page links on top of the guestbook -
(page) (1) 2 3 ยป
and you can click on them, the URL did return new value, says "..../myguestbook/index.php?start=10" or 20, 30
but the results are all the same -- it always stays on the FIRST page -- no matter what page links you clicked.

I did start a fresh install (new XOOPS + new guestbook) and run it in pure English versions as I described in my original thread (FYI, the server is in English mode only). No good luck, they are all the same, I don't think it's the non-english issue.

ralf57,

I did all I can do but no good luck.
I even tried fresh new installations and modules, seems I have to drop this module if this can't be fixed....
