When I run across something good, I like to share. For a while I've been searching for a good calendar module. The IPB module has a calendar but it's not quite what I needed. There are a few that I played with but they all fell short. Yesterday I bumped into piCal. This module is great! Yes, it has some translation related shortcomings but it still is fantastic! Here are some things that make it stand out:

--> Ability to set the view level of calendar items. (An event can be posted but only viewable by XYZ group.)
--> Events spanning a time period supported.
--> Day of the week starting on Monday supported.
--> It LOOKS GREAT!
--> Excellent job of supporting reoccurring events.

Give it a try - so far I've not had any problems. (HOPEFULLY if I do have problems, there will be an English speaking person who can help with the issue.)

Did you ever try Agendax?
Just curious, 'cause thats what I use and I like it.
And was wondering some specific differences. I looked at it though... you found a good one...

Yes. I used that one but found limited support of some of the features I described.

My view of modules is, if I install it and it works the first time, good - I'll test it. If I have to mess with it, then it will be on my 'not ready for prime-time' list. With AgendaX I had to mess with it. The more I messed with it, the more I disliked it. (It is still running on a few sites I manage but they'll be migrated this weekend.) With piCal - it worked great the first time and still works! (I saw a post today with a user reporting a bug - but it appears to be minor.)

I do like Agendax and had no problems using or installing it.
I like the random pictures at Agendax, which is not available on piCal

Certainly piCal doesn't have such a function.
But, why calendar module should show random pictures?

It must be a role of photo album module.
You can select from a lot of better photo album modules having the function.
myAlbum-P is also one of them.

That is really a good module.
Particularly to register the function recurring and dates of several days. That what I missed @ AgendaX

I really like Tiny Event - a very simple but effective calendar with a nice 'upcoming events' block.

Agenda-X is great if events are a major feature of your site and you have a lot of them, but if you only have a handful then personally I think its probably a bit of overkill.

Though my wish list has always included a port of PostCalendar, PiCal is by far the best I have yet seen for Xoops; even includes a couple of features which PostCalendar doesn't.
Very Impressed. I will be following this calendar. I would like to see a little more attention on the look of the calendar. The back-end has obviously had some serious attention, but the front-end looks like it needs a bit of a make over
