As much as I like XOOPS, this is the biggest issue I have:
Modules that are great that get abandoned by the author.

I hate clicking on a link for a module and finding out that the link is dead.

I wish there was a more formalized way for people to pass off projects/module support to others that would be willing to pick up the banner.

I was using MS Weather and swtiched to VL Weather. I do not like its setup as well, but it does draw on the NOAA, so there is not the copyright issues, and less likely hood of the format changing.

My suggestion would be for those experienced at PHP is create a module that draws on the NOAA data and whose dispay and setup is like that of MS Weather. I personally like VL Weather, but I do not like the way it displays information. It is not easily displayed anywhere but a side block.

I was working on it but many strange things happen there.
I had it working for a few hours when suddenly it stopped.
I discovered that the five-day-forcast had suddenly changed to forecast-module-night and contained no information.
I was also having trouble getting the cute little icons to display.
Given that, I am switching to NOAA which means USA only (sorry rest of world) and probably it will no longer have drop down to choose other cities and will just be my site's city.
Sorry

Did you make sure to include the hack?

That hack no longer works with the new Yahoo code.
I have made progress with weather underground. It is very easy to use their icons with no extra work.
I have the module working fine but at the moment the block is way too wide so I am trying to figure out how to reformat that.
I am also confident I will be able to leave in the select other options, but all the old Yahoo codes will have to change to ZIP or City State or City Country. Also no longer need C/F switch as Weather Underground displays both all the time.
I no longer have as much time to play, but should be able to post something in about a week.
