That's how I've done it, kinda. I got my domain name, which forwards in an iframe (pain in the butt).

SO, I have it forward to my ISP space. That then breaks out of the frame, and runs javascript to check if my computer here (domain on dyndns.org) is running, if so, it redirects the user to the dyndns.org addess.

This is the freebee way to run it. Once it's all running proper, I'll set the domain up properly.

If you have a win box, you don't have to chmod - just change permissions from read-only by right-clicking and selecting 'properties'

and you might want to disable simple security in windows, this adds more security settings.

i have a domain name with planetdomain i log into my account and it gives me the option to modify the DNS>> it has primary and secondary what to i put in here? and where do i find the DNS on my computer? what do i send it to ? i tried putting an IP but it says IP not allowed it needs a DNS for example nr1.jigglohost.com nr2.jigglohost.com what would the DNS be on my pc? and once i have sent it to my XSAS how do i tell my XSAS ................ confusing

get a free account with mydomain.com.

they have their own dns (nameservers) which you would enter as primary and secondary as you said.

THEN, you can point your domain to your IP address thru the mydomain.com account. It allows you use an IP address or URL.

also, your xsas server should be using port 80 on your comp, which means it should be open to anyone on the net, unless it's blocked by a firewall.

If i knew your comp's IP address, i'd check it...... but then, so could you!

not sure about xsas, i have another apache server on my comp.

If you use DSL, depending in your provider, port 80 can be blocked (ie: verizon dsl),

if not, and you use a router, you have to set port forwarding, on port 80 to your PC.

if you dont use a router forget last step.

for dns services I use HN.org services, free and no overload.
