I have a member post this today on my board...

"Isn't This Site Slow?
It is me or is this site slow to navigate? I'm on a T-1 line and I can't believe the time it takes to go from one page to another on this site! I would love to see this site progress and grow, get some advertising dollars, and all that but REALLY! I sent a note to the site owners about this but I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this?"

and...

""Thank you for your submission. If this page doesn't automatically redirect please click here."

Ya'll can do some programming to keep that page in the background!"

What does one say and do??

Perhaps post your site url? It could be them and not your site that has issues.

She just sent me an email...

"Your site is extremely slow to navigate. I am connecting from a T-1 line and I
certainly do not like having to wait and being redirected while navigating through
this site. I would love to see this site grow and improve. Please increase your
bandwidth/storage capacity or else people will begin to stay away from the site
because its too much trouble getting around in it.

Just my thoughts.................

It is not extremely slow for me.

Not a speeding bullet here - takes some time to respond and some time to transfer, but nothing compared to my shitty host.

ADSL, Denmark.

So it is ok then? She was the ONLY member to complain about speed of the site. What are ways you can speed up a website?? and thank you for taking a look...

Moves fine here. For speeding your site up a bit try the cacheing features, i.e. blocks that dont update often, modules and so on. Is gzip enabled on your xoops? Is mod_gzip enabled on your hosting server?

I veiwed your site on T1, Scotland

Gzip within XOOPS compresses the PHP scripts and fires them in compressed form to the viewers browser and their browser decompresses them. Turn it on and if you notice a speed increase then your set. gzip is a favourite of google pages, hence their speed etc.

PHPINFO enviromental conditions should advise if your host is running mod_gzip, in all probablility it is, but take nothing for granted ask them or if your using phpadmin check from the link in that.

Also, I see where you cache modules. not cache the blocks!....b.t.w for modules that are not updated much, which is the proper cahse time? 15, 30 minutes? etc. etc
