insert html

i would like to insert just some basic html on the main page, do i have to edit my theme.html or do i use a news module. but i dont want to have the lines like the news modules have.

Control Panel->System->Blocks: Add block
You can set it to be visible in Top page only.

you can just create a custom block...
and add in HTML tags

thats all you need..
don't need to edit theme.html
