Superb!! I love the theme, and what I love just is much is that loading your site from scratch is under 62K (including all images) including just 12 HTTP requests.

I'm no coder, but I'd love to know, or at least be able to use such a template that uses only CSS for positioning. I think it would be great as site performance is a real issue for me as I host my site over my DSL connection.

@all ...
thanks for sharing time. it is very important for me to get feedback .

@brash
yes it's correct, these templates are very fast.
and, what is important!, you are able to load files like stylesheets only if needed by using combination of smarty or querrys with stylesheets very easy!. This saves loadingtime and http-requests too!
You may change appearance of complete site on only one event or one setting ..

As we are told not to push up theme.html with images and other stuff i do use divs with background-images defined in stylesheets. To make this work, i define a divs id like "secondheader<{modname}>" in theme.html

grr... we are only told not to use a div twice in one document, but nobody told, not to use different ids for same element ...haha.. so you may use classes if you want to display things more than once a document.

in stylesheet i use:
#secondheadernews {}
#secondheadersystem {}
#secondheadernews {}
#secondheadernewbb {}
#secondheadersoapbox {}

And, if you are willing to loose orientation -> use @import url
(<{modname}>stylie.css); ---...xxx
These combinations will allow multiple combinations. <{modulname}> is only one example which you may use.
To be able to use <{modname}> i use a little patch to identify actual active modul found here on this site, you may use <{$xoops_sitename}> or whatever you want.
There are other smarty tags which may be very useful ... use this to include different files, styles, images for different situations or events.

My aim to switch to css for layout things is to get better accessibily to my sites. In the last month i've posted some examples of valid CSS and XHMTL themes to review, but there seems to be not that interest in this stuff, perhaps i put it in wrong topics... but.., if there is the need i will try to write an howto if my language doesn't loose me.

There are some topics , as posted, on http://www.studiocreativ.net and perhaps we find a group interesting in this topic too...

I LOVE that site. Really gives me some major ideas indeed!

Especially considering your left/right blocks. Those look clean and straightforward (not to mention awesome).

Thanks for sharing!

I'm very suprised if you aren't getting a great deal of interest in your work . There are huge performance gains to be made for those with low bandwidth and/or high traffic sites by using themes such as those you've produced. Perhaps it's just an awarness thing? Many people tend not to look any further than skin deep when coming to themes. If positioning is correct in all the major browsers, then that is where a lot of people stop with their tweaking (myself included until a few months ago).

My suggestion to every webmaster out their serious about providing a positive end user experience is to download IBM Page Detailer Basic (freeware), and with the cache cleared load their site up in Internet Explorer. IBM Page Detailer will give you a breakdown of what it takes to load your site so you can see where any bottle necks are. Keep in mind by rule of thumb, most visitors will only wait for around 8 seconds for your site to load, so if most of your content is not rendered in that time you will more than likely be loosing traffic. With 56kers in mind, that only gives you about 56Kbytes in total site content to work with, and that's at the absolute maximum theorectical transfer rate.

Yepp. Really looks great. *thumbs up*

Not even that much like XOOPS anymore at first glance.
(except for 'xoops' written in the test content all over the place that is)

Great job.
