I missed out on the fun part of the thread.

Anyway, please have someone help you set-up the domain and DNS. Someone offered and you should let him/her help you.

You don't have to and shouldn't need to cancel the domain and buy it again. You own it and can choose where it is kept ("registrar"). The DNS portion of the domain is not the same thing and can be hosted somewhere else or with the registrar.

You can find a new registrar (or have someone help you fix it) and do a domain transfer. Each registrar will have their own routine and will make it easy to find. (your current reg has a blinky button for it).

Then set-up the DNS to your needs and move on. Pretty basic yet critical. I'll bet that you only need someone to set-up what you have. But millions are done every day.

next question: blank screen...

Patience young max. Patience.

Directnic is a domain registrar, like 1&1, except that they work properly. You don't want to cancel your account with 1&1 now. You want to transfer your domain to another Registrar since they won't let you change your DNS to point to Surpass.

I don't know what would happen to your domain if you cancel with 1&1. With your luck so far, I wouldn't chance it.

Sign up with Directnic (it'll be easier to help you since I am familiar with their control panel), and request a domain transfer (you'll do this from Directnic). Unless they are a complete ripoff, 1&1 will then send you an email asking if that is what you want to do. Say yes, and let it happen.

Once the domain is safe and sound at Directnic, I can help you get it pointed to Surpass so that you can get your site up and running.

Until then, be calm, and stay away from caffeine.

Max, for $7.95US a year, you can get your domain name transfered using GoDaddy. http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.asp?e=com

I have been using GoDaddy for years and they have cheap prices and a great control panel. Directnic costs more, I checked.

I remembered hearing from people that had problems with them, but that has been some time ago, so I suspect whatever problems they were having were finally resolved. I just didn't feel like finding out.

Just be prepared - if max gets his domain transferred to godaddy, you get to handle the support.

max,

Looks like you are correct - directnic doesn't do .uk domains. GoDaddy does, so they may be your best bet, plus they are cheaper. After looking them over, I may have to give them a try myself.

I didn't see anything on their site about the cost of transferring a .uk domain, but plain .com is $6.95, which is cheap. Your best bet would probably be to send them an email and ask them the cost and how to proceed.

Once you get your domain with a good registrar, you should be good to go.

I went on their site and saw that you cannot transfer
http://www.safclan.co.uk for some reason,i dont know why!, take a look yourself, and go through the procedure of transfering it! because i do not understand, so can you help me ?

Ignoring all that, couldn't i just cancel my account with my current domain comapany and just buy the same name from godaddy?
