put the folder in the theme folder
ie /theme/mytheme/
after this go to admin/system admin/preferences/
and select the theme in the list.
save these settings.. and it's ok

First check if this theme is compatible with your XOOPS version! After that look in your themes folder.

xoops_root/themes/

In this folder were already the default themes located. Copy your downloaded theme into this folder.

Now you have to activate this theme

administration > system admin > preferences

If there were templates included in the package you have to upload them through the template manager.

administration > system admin > templates

and then surely activate the new templates in your preferences.

I would recommend using a good "FTP" application, which transfers your files to your server.

Smartftp is free for non-commercial use, and has some FTP instructions on their website http://www.smartftp.com

Cpanel can include Fantastico so you might end up with a couple other odd results if you used Fantastico to install it. If you used Fantastico, check and make sure you can change your site Slogan as well. I installed XOOPS with Fantastic once as a quick 3 button short cut and ended up removing it and doing it the FTP way because it messed up some database tables.
