Re: Does anyone using Xoops have a good PageRank?

I think the page rank is of importance to the subject matter of your site compared to sites of like content.

Ok, then it beats me how I got there, but it's nice anyway

Have you checked your stats for that site? You may have alot of sites putting links to your site on them. That's how you can move up in the ranking. You could be providing content that others aren't doing as good as a job with.

"Page Rank is Google's measure of the importance of this page." Given this terms, how useful is the page rank?

My website is ranked very low according to page rank, but with several of my preferred key words and phrases, I am sometimes No. 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8. As long as I am in the first page of results, I am happy.

Mozilla has their own beta version of the Google toolbar available on the Mozilla site.

As for page rank, it is important for this reason: If you have a search term, let's say "pig's feet", that you want to lead to your site that sells pickled pig's feet, then the page rank determines where in a Google search your site will appear. So, assuming there are 100 sites that are targeting that term and assuming you have a page rank of "2", the odds are your site will be buried way down in the search return pages. Everyone knows that nobody bothers to look much past the first page of returns. On the other hand, if you have a site Page Ranking of "7", for example, that same search for "pig's feet" will likely turn your site up as one of the top three returns on the first page.

That's why PR is important.

I should also mention that page rank works in two directions, incoming AND outgoing. If all of your links go to other sites and those sites don't link back to you, you lower your page rank. The best page ranks come from loops, wehre the spiders literally loop from your site out, then back. Kind of hard to explain but just thought I'd add that.

Yeh and same applies with my sites as after about a week of playing just with XOOPS sites and adding my links to my posts, www.wizanda.com has climbed on to google top slots with spiritual oneness, which is quite a big topic title, same applies with one true faith.

I love XOOPS at one point before christmas and when my site was just .co.uk, you could put 'break a commandment' in google and I was top (over all beliefnet and the rest....Go XOOPS meta gen!!!), yet I messed it up making two sites for a bit.........we will see......
