did you try disabling your software firewall (if any)?

And GadgetMn:
If you have not permitted the referrer for your site in NIS, you won't be able to make changes in the database. That means no inserts, no updates, no deletes.

This message is also produced when the cache/ folder is emptiy and not-writable (ie. XOOPS cant find the adminmenu.php file and write to it). Make sure you have set the correct access rights for that folder and file.

Mithy, you are of course correct. I have now permitted the referer for my site and everything is working as it should.
