I'm curious as to what everyone else uses? Which addon Modules you've found useful and why. I say addon because I am talking about the modules that don't come with Xoops.

Re: What Do You Use?

Cjay content, tiny content, free content, and wfsections. I use these to create different sections in my site and also to include javascripts and php scripts that I want to use on my site.

I use the addresses module as a directory, weblog as a place to have reviews written, myAds to run classifieds, the supports module for News to Go, liens module for link to us, contacts plus for an extra contact form for a specific purpose other than just only having one general contact form.

Xoopsgallery for my photos, agendax for my calendar, tiny event for my event announcements, and the xtremeuserguestbook module for my community members to have their own guestbooks on my site.

edited to add that I use the simple counter, optimize module to optimize my MySQL tables, antidos, shoutbox, buddyfriends, statistics, random quotes and xoopschat too

Weblog.

It made me decide to use XOOPS over a year ago. If weblog goes, so does Xoops.

I'm using Spotlight and weblog, both a little modified by Wellwine. Both because I like the looks and these modules are easy to use.
CJaycontent 3 for my old html files because it was at the time that I installed it the only module that could display/wrap my html files right (nowadays all these wrap modules are improved, but can't go on testing, so if you find a better module : let me know
I use the news module of Xoops, but hacked to include the FCKeditor.
The menublock of blockies to include the submenu of a module in the mainpage of that module (so I can switch of the entire left blocks)
I use xcGal because it's the best I found, many display options, good managing options, it's possible to send ecards, and not much work to get it multilingo.
I'm using a simple counter module, but it is not exactly what I want.
I'm working on the enterprise module, it will be my INFO item.
I'm working on the Bopcomments module to get it in multilingo. I'm going to use it as a whatsnew on this site item.
I use the xtremguestbook (had some problems in the beginning because nobody could actually sign this book
I use AgendaX for my events, like it but hope that the new release will include the possibility to place recurring? donno if this is good english) events.
I am now testing chatmx, untill now I found it ok.
Randomquote for what's in the name.
eskuel for my database 'things'.
I'm using Zaja themes (a little changed)
I'm still looking/testing DHTML or java menus.

Now that I read what's allready on my site, I think Oh my God, I started with the idea getting my content managed, because I write a lot, but had to much work gettin' it managed, now I've a lot of work getting it written

Aloha

Zaja themes are pretty cool. Yeah, you do usually have to edit them a little bit though because they have some links that you may not have on your site.

xCgal is something I am using now because it works great to power my image hosting. The invision board module works great too. Once I found out that the two of them were turned into modules, I decided to upgrade my whole site to xoops. Still, it would be nice if you could make the IB mod appear outside of the XOOPS enviroment and just use the user database. I'll have to go back and look at my other 5 XOOPS sites to see what else I am using.

Pardon me if I'm being obtuse, but don't all three of those essentially tackle the same problem? Why do you use all three? Do you prefer any of them over the others? Why or why not?

Perhaps because if he uses all 3, there will be 3 separate entries in the main menu for 3 separate sections of the site? (Just a guess.)

I have two XOOPS sites. On the first, I use the news module in addition to another severely hacked news module (turned it into a knowledge base), forums, weblinks, and xoopsmembers.

On the other, I use the standard news module (only slightly hacked this time ), tinycontent, forums, polls, contact, and xoopsmembers.

I've experimented with many others, and I'm always looking for better modules.

A somewhat modified version of wmpDownloads, as I wanted a downloads mod with group permissions, but couldn't get mydownloads rc1 working as well. Added uploading, and a more secure method to prevent unauthorised users viewing files (i.e. uploads moved to a file off the web root and then passed out to client via php allowing no one to guess at a files location). Also changed a few other bits and pieces about the mod to make administration easier.

I'm currently writing a mod thats a bit specialised (and I won't go into detail unless anyones interested) so that'll be used as well, other than that just the standard forum and faq modules.
