Submenu SUBMIT NEWS / suggestion

Hello XOOPS community!

I try xoops-2.0.5.1 & want tell you that is cool!

But I collide with a problem:

I want remove submenu SUBMIT NEWS for users, because I do not need in news submitting (as well as many other owners of XOOPS portals). Even if I disallow news submitting for Anonymous users in NEWS > GENERAL CONFIG, hyperlink SUBMIT NEWS still continues to exist! But it is not correct for the several reasons, one of them -- general usability rule:

DO NOT PUBLISH HYPERLINKS TO SERVICES WHICH ARE NOT ACCESSIBLE IN THIS MOMENT FOR CURRENT USER.

Please add to SYSTEM ADMIN feature for removing SUBMIT NEWS functional. It will be good, if you to make possible removing SUBMIT NEWS functional individually for each group of users.

You can edit the /modules/news/xoops_version.php file to remove the submit news link manually. I agree that making it optional is a good thing, and the module devs are working on upgrading the news module, and I'm sure this will be a feature they add.

About your golden rule: not everyone agrees to that. Some use this to trigger site registration (so unregistered visitors see what they get when they register). Making it optional will suit both sides

I know it, but:

1. I want keep my XOOP is updatable by last releases (manual PHP-coding makes impossible this demand!).
2. Many XOOP users need in this feature (I find much information in WWW about this one).

Your request has been noted and will be included in the next version of the News Module (as soon as I figure out how to use the permissions properly )

1. Thanks, for you replies. We waiting for including this feature in new release.

2. But after registering in this board I have a problem -- I recieve SPAM from address x-mas@xoops.org! Approx 10 massages per night!

My E-mail is not allowed for viewing in profile page, therefore bug in your mail server or your scripts or your database. Please fix it!

All Modules developed by the module development team will have this option 'switchable' in the future.
