I'm already running Postfix (MacOSX) on a machine I plan to use for Xoops. Will there be a problem in doing this? Is XOOPS using it's own SMTP/POP server and if so will it disturb Postfix? Sorry if this is a very basic quistion but after scouting the forums and read the manual I have not been able to figure this out myself.

If you are in a unix/linux environment basicaly XOOPS don't use smpt/post unless you tell it to do so, ... it works with the sendmail..

if you use windows server then smtp will be the one to use.

to clarify - XOOPS does not include a mail server itself, but relies on the php mail() function in normal mode, and any smtp capable server in SMTP mode. Since Postfix normally replaces the sendmail binary with its own, the php mail() function should continue to function. If not, SMTP mode is still available.
