you don't (directly). Each news article has two parts - the intro text and extended text. Anything in the intro text displays in the news summaries, anything in the extended text shows up in the Read More...

sorry, I referred the intro text , not extended text.

I setting the NEWS in home page (central table)and the intro text in home shows up in the Read More... is very long.

That's what Ackbarr tried to explain:

All text you put in the Intro text box when you add a news item, is shown on the homepage (if you set the news module as startpage module). To make that text shown shorter, move some of your intro text to the extended text... It's all in your own hand, there's no automatic limit to the length of the intro text.
