I'm not using CVS, but how to download XOOPS 2.1 in HTTP?

first and last time: there is no 2.1 Beta yet. There is NO release date or even a wild guess for the 2.1 alpha, so stop asking. We'll all let you know as soon as we have something to share with you all

I am not an XOOPS developper, bu I understand their situation, because I'm also a developper. And we should help XOOPS developpers with not to take their time with such useless things. If we don't take their time, they will release a beta earlier :)

When something is ready to test I'm sure they will share with us, so please be patient. Maybe it is a good idea to put a notification message in main page of XOOPS web site, like:
"XOOPS v2.1 is still in early development phase. We kindly ask to do not ask for release date, or beta. If there will be any information or alpha or beta is available, we will share. Please be patient."

Makes me wonder 2.05 is like not long out and people are wanting 2.1 beta's, release dates, and so forth.

2.05 is a superbe bit of kit, quality programming free gratis developed by a bunch of guys (some woman?) in their free time including the modules.

2.1 will be an improvement on 2.05 and new interpolation of code structure, but it wont make the tea for you, or butter your toast. Its got a lot to beat over 2.05 and that will take a lot of time to think out, code to write by the devs, hence the road map discussions. Contribute to this discussion

When anything is ready the XOOPS team wont hide it from anyone they will be happy to announce it. So give them a break.

By the way when is 2.1 due to be released LOL

If you are a newbie to XOOPS finding out something has gone wrong with your install, or you find other things unepexpected. The chances you have discovered a unique problem, not covered before within the respective forums will be rare. Use the search function before posting, saves everyone a lot of time.

My standard answer is, it will be out sometime before Harry Potter Book 6.

As a module developer and webmaster, I would actually wish for a loooooong time until 2.1 in order to:

a) Get all (sensible) desired functionality into the CMS once and for all (I mean... in one go - I'm sure there will be a 2.2 and 3.0 and maybe even 7.0)

b) Make sure everything works properly

In my module, I am constantly finding new and better ways to get the job done (procedural -> function-heavy -> OO + SMARTY -> extended use of core features) and therefore it's better for me to have something constant to relate to.

As webmaster it is a bitch upgrading CMS - so much can go wrong.
