I have a version of contact that I modified "some time ago" that does this. I've been using a version of this for a while and it seems to work. It's on SourceForge - I'll merge it in with the "official" version of Contact on GitHub at some point but don't have time right now.

If you'd like to try my version you can get it from:
https://sourceforge.net/p/xoops/svn/13213/tree/XoopsModules/modulepacks/x257basicmodulepack/branches/zyspec/contact/

Hello,
The "xmcontact" module can do it.
The module is in development, but the current version works very well.
The templates are optimized for use bootstrap.

Could you write a short tutorial on how to do it, so all our existing modules could be changed like this?

I just use the existing css here:

http://getbootstrap.com/css/

I'm not a professional css. I think everyone can do it

hi together

https://github.com/myxoops/contact can do this also and it is based on bootstrap, google maps can be implemented, you can use contact form or maps as a block,...

live examples:

I thought that you did something that makes it look good on both: the old themes like our Default or Zetagenesis, and the Bootstrap-based themes.

But I see that it's really focused only on Bootstrap, i.e. it looks good there, but not so good on the Default/Zetagenesis themes.

What would be the best way to make them look good on both, besides doing it as "template overwrite" for each particular theme?

the intention of changing the original module was to optimize it for bootstrap and add some more features.
but at first place to make it working well with bootstrap.
I would not make any hybrid templates that work with all html/css frameworks

Michael,

The effort required to make it work on both is so large that it simply isn't realistic.

You would need to do everything in div's and such for Bootstrap, while legacy themes expect tables.
You can't do that without writing 2 completely separate templates. And even if you could, it would be really hacky code as a result.

I think that with Xoops 2.6 coming up, we should break with this legacy and make the themes bootstrap friendly - it's way easier to update them, all modules have basic styling implemented that is easy to override and it's responsive.

XOOPS legacy themes are based on tables, so they are as static as can be. Every form is implemented as tables, and if you even TRY to avoid tables, you get the hard task of trying to make it responsive.

I think it's time to break with the legacy themes and move forward with the Bootstrap based themes/modules. If someone doesn't want to upgrade, they can simply stick with XOOPS 2.5.x and the modules for that.

Just my opinion on this. It's better to support 1 thing very well rather than supporting 2 half-cooked solutions.

hi all

I'm the same opinion. we should use our energy for modern templates and modules, therefore all my modules are using bootstrap and all my themes are responsive.
yes, it is harder to (learn how to) create a responsive template, and maybe not everyone has the knowlegde to to so, but resonsive templates are the future and we have to go in this direction. And, if someone needs help, I am sure, bleek, I or someone else can help.
