Hi, where would I find the latest stable non RC version of NewBB? Github seams to only have RC versions but I need a stable version for a production site.

I testet the RC Version from GitHub and it was pretty stable.

Can you please install it and check it? We can then maybe bring it to a final status

XOOPS Version XOOPS 2.5.7.2
PHP Version 5.3.29

I tried to install the latest RC and it said that I needed xoops 2.5.8 so I tried to upgrade my xoops core and got blank pages during the upgrade with no errors - just blank pages.

I understand the necessity for testing the latest version to get it released, but the latest NewBB version doesn't work on the latest stable xoops version.

I just need a working version for a production site to get me going at the moment.

Is this not possible?

Cifug,

I looked over the changes that were made to Newbb RC11 and although it will "scream" at you - telling you that XOOPS 2.5.8 is required, it isn't. None of the changes in newbb between RC10 and RC11 require 2.5.8 to work.

I suspect what happened is that Mamba tested RC11 with 2.5.8 so that's why RC11 "requires" 2.5.8 - although we'll need to let him chime in to see if that's accurate.

XOOPS 2.5.8 claims it needs PHP 5.3.7 - don't know if that could be why you're having problems with the XOOPS 2.5.8 upgrade or not... again, maybe Mamba can shed light on it...

I might give the RC12 a go and see what happens. This must be a nightmare for new users lol

The RC12 appears to be working fine Yeah

I'm using the bootstrap theme and it has a newbb template folder - how do I use the bootstrap templates?

If the templates are in the ./themes//modules/newbb folder they will be loaded automatically when you select that theme.

You can learn more about template overloading at https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=3367

If I modify a template in mytheme/modules/newbb/ or the style.css in mytheme/ the changes don't show. Only if I modify a template or style.css in the module folder itself which is not a good thing.

What am I missing?

Does it matter that the module templates have .tpl extension and the theme templates have .html extension?

Yes, that's why the newer modules are "kindly" requiring XOOPS 2.5.8, because we moved to the .tpl extensions.

But it's easy to adjust it - just copy the .tpl files from XOOPS 2.5.8 from the xBootstrap theme:

/themes/xbootstrap/modules/newbb/

and you should be OK. If there are problems, please report...
