When I first installed mylinks and loaded the links the thumbshots for each site showed up. Recently all the thumbshots have gone away showing only the coming soon icon. I have a thubbshots account but I can not find where to put my info in xoops, either in the module or the main index.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've typically encountered this due to thumbshots caching. I have found that the thumbnails will typically re-appear within 24 hrs. If you are still having problems you might try and use the Nemui.org provider. This is a module setting in the module Preferences.

After further discussions with 14u2env, and reviewing the tumbshots.com site it appears that thumbshots.com has changed their method to access thumbnails. I will update the Mylinks module to allow for webmasters to add their thumshots.com account information and then release another RC version soon...

This is probably a stupid question, but can't this be done locally? Why look up a site for a default thumbshot for this module?

i would like to suggest if this is doable or a good practice

admin can choose to use either own screenshot or external
screenshot site for each link submitted..screenshot is set to same size

eg:

link A use own image
link b use thumbshots
link C use neimui

and so on

maybe some dropdown menu to choose setting

I believe this capability already exists but it's use isn't well documented and the interface is cumbersome. I'll look at trying to improve this in a future release.

I'll add it to the todo list for a future release too.

Not a stupid question. I'm sure it's possible - since these services do it, we'll have to look into how to capture a screenshot of a 3rd party site. There may be something we can do with snoopy. We'll have to check into what system requirements are required on the server (gd, open ports, etc) to see what it would take. I'll look into it, but no promises that I'll have time to do this...
