These have always been included to have a formatting in the table of data in the email, so that it stays away from the border.
So, nothing is changed there.

I don't understand why these nbsp entities are visible in your email client, since it is always html formatted.
Then you would have to see also the <table>, <td>, <tr> tags etc.?
If you have English or an Western-European language in use, then ISO-8859-1 should be the prefferred message encoding.
