Re: New Theme for Xoops.org Site!!

Sorry, off topic, but it sounds like a great module, _metemet_.

Would themes need to be specially made to be compatible with it?

Having something like the jQuery UI ThemeRoller would be fantastic!!!

Just go to the "Gallery" Tab and try different Themes there.

yes Mamba, jQuery UI ThemeRoller has features that I thought,

we can also add some tools to themes :
you know yoo theme or rocket theme for joomla. they've own modules such as yoo-search,yoo-gallery ...etc.
Ithink our themes must have such tools made with jquery.

And last thing: page loadings must be fast. So clean codes, reset css file, cache,
css sprites ..etc. could use for themes.

Lets start the work.

In what way we want to beginn, would we have an own team forum, only visible for us? Would we can have the theme to download to play with and show at monday in our forum what ideas we had??

Let me know

Re: New Theme for Xoops.org Site!!

So while we're all playing with the downloaded theme (hint hint), should we discuss which modules we'll be using for the various sections of the site? (So we can start experimenting with templates).

Actually, here's a question. Are we just building the theme, or are we rebuilding the whole site?

I'm happy whichever way we're going, just wanted to pose the question.

[Edit: And is there any special reason to want a private forum? Wouldn't it be better if it was open to anyone?]

I think a private forum will be better. After we have our ideas ready, we have to start to build a first demo. I think it´s easier to work on it if there not to many people involved.

That´s only my meaning, what do you think?

For me it´s clear that we have to overwork the whole site and make it new. But that will start after we have the theme ready. Then we have to install all the modules and made the templates ready.

We have to have a look to make all the modules tableless and validated.

Great Modules to use:

MYsearch and my MyMenu from trabis. Tryed both and they are brilliant.
Themegallery with extgallery is also great.

The both PD modules have a good Templateengine, you can overwork them perfectly, see them at my site

I made a new structure for the forum.

Check it out, I think it´s much better then the original one

What do you think?? For the forum, we just have to change images and it can run at xoops.org

Since XOOPS.org is also using the most common used modules as News and NewBB, I would prefer if these modules templates could be updated. In that way it will also be benificial to the whole community. Changing modules may be tempting, but will further scatter the information and reduce the backlinks from the internet.
If some of these modules lack essential features, then it would be better to add them to the existig modules, rather than changing modules.

For my part it should be open. I think it's always advantagous to have feedback from the community.

We will work only in new theme (for now), I mean, we need to update the existing modules templates and adapt to a new style.

The desicion of use new modules, or change the whole site does not depends of us, there are many people involved on that.

To work we will use the google groups (designers group) to cordinate the work.

In a few moments I will send a message to start the planning...

I don´t agree, for a perfect layout of the new Design, we have to include the templates of the most important modules also in the planing and the design process.
