Do you also get this error when your logged in as admin ? Maybe its a permission problem ?

I would remove any block that does not belong to system from front page. I would remove any template cache on xoops_data and/or make XOOPS check templates for modifications. If it does not work try use default theme. Check if your file index.php has read permissions.

Tried this and still had a blank index.php page. I get the blank index.php when I'm logged in as an admin too, but I can see the admin panel and all of that just fine with no errors.

Did this and still had a blank index.php page

I went through each module to set as a homepage but I still had a blank index.php page for each one.

Blank pages with no debug info are often related with php parsing errors. Example: error on language file or in some module xoops_version.php.

Try move all modules (expect system one) to another temporary folder. At least you may get debug errors.
I can help you better if you provide me ftp access, and if possible admin login, to your site.

When updating the system module, did you check out the listing for errors or irregularities?
Was system_homepage.html compiled well?

Did you run the file check (see release notes)?

When accessing your site, it generates a 500 internal server error.
Do you use URL rewriting?

I don't get any debug errors on the index.php site because the page is blank. I even set the debug mode to 'popup' but the popup doesn't appear when I go to index.php because I guess the blank page doesn't load up all the way or something.

There were no listing errors when I updated the system module.
What do you mean by url rewriting? Are you talking about .htaccess?
I did the htaccess thing for the XoopsCare security issues that I saw in a faq in these forums, but that was it.

Wow! It's working now!! All I did was upload and replace a new index.php file from the XOOPS package @_@ I don't know why that fixed it since I never even touched the index.php file in the first place. Thank you for the help, though @_@

I did run the checksum.php file and it said index.php - content invalid, so I just tried to replace the index.php with another one and that seemed to do it.

Sometimes I think this must be in the installation procedure, because there are now quit some examples of problems in this forum, resloved by the file check.
These come due to bad uploads or bad downloads from SourceForge (it's not the fault of SourceForge, but there are some mirrors which regulary fail to deliver the zip file complete).
I assume a two step process:
- at the start verify directory /install
- after input and verification of the directories (as xoops_data and xoops_lib etc) verify that all files are there (also in moved directories).
