installing Xoops 2.3.3, When i move xoops_data it goes blank?

Ok so during installation i read in the READ ME or INSTALLATION html that i need to take
xoops_lib
and
xoop_data
and move them OUT of the ROOT folder.
Ok so i did that and continued installation
then it tells me the two folders are missing

but it just told me to move them out?
Ok so i put them back and it checks PATHS... which now turn out correct.
Ok onward right?

Go all the way through install
Now im logged in as administrator
i got to the admin panel and low and behold i see the two messages again

WARNING: Folder /nfs/c01/h04/mnt/33727/domains/***My Domain***/html/xoops_lib is inside DocumentRoot!
For security considerations it is highly suggested to move it out of DocumentRoot.

ok what? i know its in there because you told me to put it back.
Want me to move it? Ok fine
I created another folder ( xoopsroot/Whateverfolder/ )
and i dragged the two folders into it

Ok so now they are no longer in the XOOPS Root folder right?
Great
i go back and refresh the admin control panel and its a blank white page?

What th-!

Ok lost now.. what gives?
Whats the proper instructions for these two foldres
Xoops_data and Xoops_lib ??

it seems no matter where i put the folders or set their permission to
the site wont work with these folders OUTSIDE of the root area

also if i place them in the root area
i get this warning

Not all servers allow PHP files outside the webroot. If it wonr work without, you have to rename the two directories (in the file tree and in the mainfile.php) and also protect them by a .htaccess file (see security article about protector).

You have to move to a hoster, that supports running PHP outside the root or have to live with the permanent view of this warning.

Did you ever change the mainfile.php? You don't mention above the step, only that you went back and refreshed the Admin Control panel.

The installer is looking for the folders in the default location, but since you moved the folders; you must now point the installer to the location the folders were moved to by editing the paths statement.

Easiest solution is still to complete the install with the folders inside the root, check out the system if ti runs properly and when all works fine doing the move and adapt mainfile.php accordingly.

Re: installing Xoops 2.3.3, When i move xoops_data it goes blank?

sorry all. actually i was reading through many other messages here about the problem
and i did see that i needed to change the paths in mainfile.php
so i did make the adjustments
but i was still getting the error

and to be clear
the error showed up during installation ONLY because i simply moved them from their common location
tried to continue install but it didnt work until i moved them back.

originally i thought i needed to move them only while changinc the permissions
move them back
do the rest of the install
and then revert permissions again.......

so i did what it asked
and finished the installation

now keep in mind
currently i ONLY see the warning message when i goto the admin control panel
no where else
