we're talking about xm-spotlight, right?
If so:
go to admin>xm-spotlight>admin>news spotlight
You will see that the screen has 4 areas:
10 Last News Post
Spotlight Images
Category Settings
Show SubCategory?
Start by defining your 4 available categories (you have already made categories in News module, I presume). click 'submit'.
These 4 categories will appear below your spotlighted news once all is set up.
Next. From the '10 Last News Post' section, check as many of the stories as you want to spotlight. click 'submit'
From admin>system>preferences>general settings
choose 'None' as your "Module for your start page"
Go to admin>system>Groups>
make sure that all the groups you want to be able to see xm-spotlight have the necessary permissions to do so.
Go to admin>system>blocks>
Blocks generated by xm-spotlight Blocks visible in Top page Groups access All types Visible All types
Note the XM-Spotlight News Block and make sure it's set to visible.
