Thanks John. And I'd gladly give you admin access to look around if you like.

Before I go down your checklist I noticed this just now. When I go into the news setting and do

=================
News Display Layout

Classic shows all news ordered by date of publish. News by topic will group the news by topic with the latest story in full and the others with just the title
======================
I changed that to By Topic and it shows up!!! However I don't want that format, I need classic. When i set it to classic nothing appears.

Okay your questions.

1.I have no center blocks other than Big Story, I turned that off and nothing

2. Not sure what you mean here. But for each news item I create, at the bottom "approve" is checked. I leave that the way it is. Is that okay?

3. I see everything, the scoop, and the 'read more" to see the extended.

One more thing...

On the module's preferences page, look for this entry:
Restrict Topics on Index Page?

Is it set to "yes"? If so, change it to "No".

Hi chicks,
alter8news is using old php vars.
Please use a search and replace program(google for infoRapid search and replace)
and replace
$HTTP_GET_VARS with $_GET
$HTTP_POST_VARS with $_POST
$HTTP_SERVER_VARS with $_SERVER

I believe this last one is causing conflicts in XOOPS index page.

Yeah - be nice to get the News module working too, though

Re: Problem editing news items

finally solved the issue. two modules using the same template name. but they required different templates. so only one would work
CBB / LatestNews / Publisher / XM-Spotlight

So do you think if i just uninstall the old news module, this new one would show up like it should be? I ask because I'm done transferring all the news items to the new.

If the altern8news module's templates are the ones that Bandit-X refers to then the answer is yes.

It would be unlikely that any other module's templates would be named "news_...." so yes, deactivate and then uninstall the old module and update News 1.62 in modules admin (to make sure that the templates are all in the system)
