templates_c wont delete?? same for inside files

So im making changes on this XOOPS installation
version 2.18.2
im in the templates_c folder
and i want to delete all these temporary files
and NOT the index.html file

so i select them all
i hit DELETE
FTP window goes for about 4 seconds and then stops.
Finally after waiting a while, FTP times out as it should when theres no activity

I look in the folder again and all is still there

So i tried to rename the folder
then move it OUT of its area completely
i did however make a new templates_c folder.

I went to the renamed folder, and went to delete those files again
still same thing. Wont let me delete the files.
What gives?

This is because different user credentials are used to log on in with FTP and cPanel, and the file operations done by Apache in executing the PHP scripts. The file ownership and permissions decide if deleting is allowed or not. When files or folders are created by Apache (php), it may be that you can not change it from cPanel or FTP. It has to be done with a File manager from within XOOPS, altough I had once with some folders from Formulaire, which appeared unchangable that I had to open a ticket for it.

thanks ghia for the reply
but there's something else which doesn't allow this explanation to be true.

i have another XOOPS installation on the same server, and it allows me to do these changes no problem.

i also noticed that when i log in with my other computer (which is NOT wireless)
it will easily delete all thes files in the templates_c folder
when i try it with the wireless laptop
it hangs

Hows that for a monkey wrench?

Install xoopsCare module from http://xoops.instant-zero.com.From there you can clear template_C cache. It solved my problem of tying to delete temporary files.
