I've never had anyone try to spam via cbb. One thought - do you allow anonymous postings/comments/reporting in cbb?

Only registered member can post on the site except the vote/rating of article are for anonymous.

I think it's better to do it directly from Apache with .htaccess .
This way you don't loose processing power on Protector to analyze the request and checking for the IP's.
Also you prevent that malicious requests could destabilize Protector or XOOPS.

And you have not an admin panel where you can do it, like cPanel (IP deny manager)?
(If there is a filemanger in the admin panel, it has also no rights to edit it? Can you place a .htaccess file in another directory?)
If none of these works, you should definitly move on to another hoster. Did you ask the hoster to consider allowing access to the .htaccess of your www root directory, so the current problems could be managed?

They never stop, as long there is some kind of access to the site, and even with forbidden, it goes on for weeks.

Hello Fandi,

As per routine checking, your modules is still causing the overloading where by you had just change the folder name and yet continue on using the same forum.

Please be note that your forum is no longer supportable in a shared hosting environment and yet you are advised to upgrade to at least semi-dedicated server, how ever, if your user is growing, semi-dedicated server might not able to support the systems as well.

We have then disable the module but not suspended your whole site, if we found the site is continuing on having the same module which causing overloading we may then need to suspend your site.

Attach is the top process usage.

If you have any enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank You.

Best Regards,

Ee Dawn

Is this true? Did you sneaky reinstate the forum without their consent?
Then it's sure time to move on!

About the figures they publish, I'm not so sure how to interpret them.
It could be that these are normal for a request to the forum.
Could you match in your raw logfiles the accesses that where taken place at these moments?
Maybe there is something wrong with the software on your site or in general.
(It could have been hacked. There may be some large inefficiences in one or other module that take part in the process, like Core, Forum, Protector, statistic module, ...).
It would be interesting to investigate this.

Maybe the XOOPS.org site manager could shed a light on this?
How big is your forum and how many users are on average online?

As per checking , only the forum under the folder newbb which needed high process on processing the http process, this might consider as the forum systems process and you may consider on having different forum systems.

How ever, due to the nature of forum system which usually consume high load,it is recommended that you may need to upgrade to semi-dedicated server, which for 2000 visitor perday, the usage might not be able to cater by a semi dedicated server but highly advised to have dedicated server.

If for exemple you send out a document of 250 bytes (the size of this post) and you refuse 400 connections a day, this will add up at the end of the month to a 30 Mb traffic or 1% of an allowed 3 Gb traffic.
