Hiya Xoopers,

This is the first module that is getting the compatibility treatment. As most of you are aware, there is a compatibility problem with many of the XOOPS modules on sourceforge (Like the orginal modules that were packaged with XOOPS a few years ago).

Well the first module I chose is the old XOOPS Contact Us module (No reason why I just did :-p).

This module should now run on all Versions of XOOPS and if some of you are playing with XOOPS 2.3, you will have the captcha enabled.

FYI, Before I get buried with requests regarding adding new features or I am not doing the right modules. Please remember that the objective of this is to bring the modules up to a working state. I know that there is many better modules out there, but every little helps. :)

Installation went fine on a XOOPS 2.3 XAMPP installation. Captcha worked as advertised. Sendmail also worked without error, but I never got the mail I sent. I've never tried to send mail from a XAMPP installation and I really don't know whether it's possible to do so.

It's good to know that work is being accomplished on these much needed modules and that they will be compatible with future updated software.

PHP mail and SMTP gave this message:

We're sorry, but there seems to be a problem with our mailing system at present.

Please try again later or use an alternative method to get in touch with us.

But then again, this is a test site on an XAMPP installation.

Thanks for doing it!!! I'm sure, all of us appreciate it!

Would it be possible to have a some kind of a tutorial about what has been fixed and how in the Contact module?

So people could understand better what to look for in their modules, that would have to be fixed?

Thank's for this Catz...

Is it your intention to upgrade all old modules to work with XOOPS 2.3? And if so, maybe we can help a little.... I'm not a programmer so I need a good description then...
