XOOPS it's Open Source, so you can always fix things that you're not happy with, and since we don't advertise anywhere, I don't think that we have to be concerned with a legal suit.

However, I agree with you that we need Forums in our downloads, and hopefully will have soon 2-3 basic packages with various modules for our users.

If you had problems with installation, I hope, you've reported it so we could fix it.

From the Operations Manual 1.1._The_XOOPS_core

Quote:

To sum up, then, the XOOPS core comprises a lot of power hidden under calls to classes or functions, provides the functional framework, the templating engine, the handling of languages and much more. It accomplishes part this through the System module, which is the only one installed in a default XOOPS package, as it is through this module that the webmaster decides what other modules will be part of the live site.

I'm not a coder or developer just a fan of XOOPS and after dumping a Nuke Evo install in favor of XOOPS I am finding so many of the modules that have bugs or are no longer being supported by the creator (xphpbbi is my major obstacle at the moment).

Will a cash donation helP? ;D

Re: Xoops Modules (All Xoops Users Please Read)

Thats great to have a compatibility list. but how about a common fix to those problems that arise from users with PHP5 & MySQL5 does no one see the growing number of users with these versions? I can also use MySQL4 but I am stuck with PHP5 how about a common fix for those users using said versions? the key problem seems to be with posting data. is there a change in the get/post method perhaps with more info some users might just release updated versions of the modules that will work in the newer versions of PHP and MySQL

oh wow, xphpbbi, I haven't thought of that module in years
it's been 3-4 years, I'm surprised people are still trying to use it!

I guess if XOOPS hadn't stagnated for so long, there would be a better solution by now. Glad to see it's trying to come outta it's "funk" though. Onward and Upward, as they say.

EDIT: just a note in case an admin happens along, I receive an error anytime I try to update my account (it's several years old). Additionally, I can't change the email (which is defunct).

Cheers

And we are glad that people see that!

Of course, we would benefit from any help that you could offer us.

Can we have a XOOPS module team starting from this thread?

Potential tasks of this team:
1 Keep modules in xoops.org repository up-to-date
2 Evaluate modules in repository
3 Help module authors release security fixes in case necessary
4 Adopt abandoned modules or help make migration scripts for abandoned modules
5 Make out-of-box module distributions for different types of users

Hi all,
As posted by phppp, I am very interested in job number 1 and 2 as above and I have some experience in modification of php and MySQL code as well. When can I start on these?
