Hi,

I would like to know how I can add text the home content ( the first first page from where you come in if you type a adress )
I check system_block_mainmenu.html and there I only saw a smarty tag
<a class="menuTop" href="<{$xoops_url}>/"><{$block.lang_home}></a>

Without any referal to any page. I would prefer not to use modules for this. So how can I add content to that page?

Thanks in advanced.

You use blocks to add contents to the front page...

Doesn't seem to me that I can add content to the frontpage,
With the other links I used the XOOPS method, adding a php file then adding the link to mainmenu. But I couldn't do it with the Frontpage.

You have a blocks admin in XOOPS to arrange blocks, you can just place either custom blocks or module ones on the front page...

Yeah I did place custom blocks, but I need to place text and stuff on my frontpage. It's a sort of introduction text I need to place, so a introduction about the website and stuff.

I would take a look a these two F.A.Q.s to get a better understanding of how you can do it and it isn't as hard as it may seem to be.

I have done a similar thing with one of my sites and used the mypage technique along with mystartup modules together. This enables me to have a Welcome page (the mypage module) with content just for the guests and then when a member logs in the registered member has a different startpage.

Mypage Module is located here: https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=280

And carnuke explains some other things very well too!

Hi thanks for your reply,

However I can't seem to find mypage anywhere so I can't make any frontpage contents. I have searched everywhere on the web for mypage but it seems that it does not exist anymore.

If you got a link to mypage it would be hugely appreciated also if you have any other ways to solve this problems please let me know.

First I would like to say thanks to Hervet for his answer in the FAQs.

The mypage module is actually a simple module you create yourself and upload to your server and install it the same way you do any other module. I like it because it is easy to figure out from Hervets instructions and it allows me to hide it from the Main Menu, yet call it for other users from the startpage module or by denying or allowing access from the group permissions.

I used to have it templated and will look to see if I still have it zipped up for you. But the best way to learn it is to do the step by step instructions from Hervet. Don't worry about the comments section of the FAQ for this, just do it like Hervet says and it should work perfectly!

Will let you know soonest on the zip file.

Could this relate?

ADDON: Tried the mypage.zip link and it is no longer available from the link listed. May be at the wayback archive... was going to look but didn't get in yet.

That mypage is over complicated, so here is a blank module I’ve just done for you….also it is better to use a templates rather then direct PHP as then it doesn’t need to be read each time and loads faster….though you can blank the template line out within the index.php to begin with for testing purposes, rather then keep updating it (PHP works real time on changes)….
