Do you use the Protector module (if not, why not? )?

I had the same problem with my site after I changed the "Protected IP bits for the session" in Protector's Preferences from 24 to 32 bits. Problem instantly cured when I went back to 24 bits.

Seemed to affect users with dial-up 'net accounts rather than broadband.

Don't know it this helps you but my posting it might help others.

I have exactly the same problem with the same version of XOOPS since upgrading to 2.0.17.1

It happens on both IE7 and Firefox

I have custome sessions enabled and set to 60mins (still the same with sessions disabled too)

I have also set the database connection to persistant but that made no difference either.

I, for now can not find a work around for this and have put up with as at the moment due to seasonal changes my site is quiet but i do need to find a cure before the new year.

If anybody can offer further assistance i will try anything.

Cheers

Stuart

EDIT: I don't have the protector module installed at the moment either.

From the 2.0.17.1 release notes:

Quote:
Users who still suffer from login problem after implementing the patch are suggested to turn on custom session in system preferences, or set "enableRegenerateId" to FALSE in /kernel/session.php line #78.

Perhaps you could try this and report back?

IIRC, you can't do the above and use custom sessions simultaneously, so turn off "custom sessions" if you do try it.

Hi JAVesey,

Thanks for the reply but that was one of the first things i tried after upgrading with custome sessions disabled.

I'm willing to help you get it sorted as I (personally, at least) consider Protector to be the only "must have" module.

I have Protector 3.04 working perfectly with 2.0.17.1 (as do many others on here).

If you trust me enough to give me FTP access to your site tomorrow evening (I'm in the UK, so GMT time zone) I'm willing to give it a go for you. I'm well-known on here and I'd like to think that others will vouch for me on the integrity front

PM me if you think this offer is useful to you.
