Darcy,

Googledocs is real easy to use, has revision history, spreadsheet, word processor and can be easily published for public viewing.

All you need to do to participate is go to www.gmail.com, create an account and you're good to go....Provided that's the path it all goes down. I happen to like the idea as well but we'll need to get consensus on this as well, phew!

I think we all prefer to use XOOPS.

I'll take a look at Google docs tonight, I'm not familiar with that. I note that a lot of work has been done on a wiki already. So long as reference material is readily accessible it doesn't matter too much where it is.

However, I think it's important that actual comments by the community be gathered through xoops.org, as this is where everyone is (virtually speaking).

Agreed. How long is it likely to take for someone (with perms) to actually create the new forum as suggested?

Humm...

Is there a need to create such situation?
Where only a few guys have privileges?
Why don't you do it here, at xoops, org, on the forums?
Everyone is concerned and can at any time contribute?

This thread is a good example of the proposal (team=member)
Resized Image

Proof of concept

Some proposed a model. We all read those big textes,
some times misunderstanding the meaning and for many
other users it was completely understandable.
At some point, Gtop has decided to represent it visually.

"A picture is worth a thousand words"

Such organigram resume in a seen all the long lines.
And everybody is able to understand each proposal.

At anytime, any 'anonymous' reading the thread can get a better idea,
see an improvement, then login and make this evolve to the best of all.

That's life ! Quite often solutions come from where you don't expect.
Some others would say that ideas are in the air.
So it is up to everyone to get it expressed.
People only need freedom to share experiences.

One or another is not available and you're stuck!
While that some good stuff is gone, like air

To conclude you're creating privileges and... limitations!
You don't have to re-create what we all experiment in all day life.
It is up to everyone to innovate !

Set it free!
I like people more than machines or money. But that's me!
Lets do something good and great: Lets do open source!

Damaster,
You are right, again!

This needs to be carried on right here on a private forum with pm access to a member name PROPOSAL so that business can be carried on here in full view.

I or we/ will or can/ compile all the Pm's that are relevant to subject matter without names but with the essence of the suggested changes.

All those who volunteered could have access to the "PROPOSAL" pm inbox. Answering individuals for clarification if needed.

This is my suggestion, and I am awaiting approval and the means for implementation.

I am a member of the team...
As is Davidl2, and you. (if you have chosen to continue on) - along with the list that seems to be meeting on googledocs. I haven't been a part of those meeting yet though I have been invited and informed of their taking place.

I am inclined to believe that my place is over here, where the end-users gather for information.

I put myself forth as an end-user rep so I believe I should get my information in the same way they get theirs.

Then I am better able to represent them, if I am not getting it, then neither are they.

Right now, I see a simple request, one I could almost handle myself. (the pm and giving the password to others on the proposal drafting committee)
The forum (thought it would not be private because I do not have permissions regarding that area) Those who do can not use them as I understand the directive.
That could be changed by phppp, in a heartbeat.

I know that from experience being Moderator #3.

Now, maybe if MadFish will make the request, DJ may accommodate, or he may not.

It doesn't matter if conversations are going on all over the place, in the end THEY MUST END UP HERE, or they have no value what-so-ever.

Crip,

I do not see what the issue is with using XOOPSinfo.org. The foundation owns it, it is configured very nicely and frankly it should be viewed as an asset of the community. It may well be that with the proper organization and a funtional community xoopsinfo.org could be forums.xoops.org in the near future?

The foundation is here to support the community.

Same here - but let's not argue over every detail - if enough people want to use XI for hosting discussions, that's fine. If not, then fair enough

The XI team certainly has no real problems with this.

But this is rather off topic ... well, perhaps not totally

The members of this discussion team can decide on this - I have no real objections one way or the other.
