I want to use a weblinks module on my website...

I already tried weblinks 1.61 (the latest version) but it's missing a lot of constants in the admin section. Also it's difficult to configure and needs happy-linux module installed aswell...

Formerly I used mylinks, the standard weblinks module for Xoops, but that one ain't working anymore after server upgrade to php5.

The module repository comes up with several other modules not longer devoloped or not working or download link not working anymore.

Can anyone give me a hint to good working, easy to configure, simple weblinks module? And tell me where to download aswell...

Thanks

I like Weblinks .92 - I've used the latest version & it is a lot more complex as far as everything you have to configure to get it working, plus like you say it requires the happy linux module. .92 has none of these issues and all of the perks of the best links module available for XOOPS, without the complexities of its latest evolution.

If you can't find .92 & would like to give it a try, email me & I can send you the zip file.

Thanks for your opinion POD! Anyone else any idea? I can try weblinks 0.92 but rather use an up to date module...

Thanks

Hm, strange the mylinks module doesn't work on php5. Specially since I like this simple but very efficient module.
A lot of users who run php5 (not me yet) use this module without problems as far as I read and understood.
The mydownload module is in fact exactly the same and I see this module also been used on php5 (see i.e. gijoe's website)

On the other hand, perhaps by adjusting the standard mylinks module it will run on php5.

Try this:
also you might want to change all the HTTP vars in the above code.

you should use:
$_GET, $_POST, $_SERVER, $_FILES
instead of the longer
$HTTP_GET_VARS, $HTTP_POST_VARS $HTTP_SERVER_VARS
and so on..

Open your editor and do find replace. Delete every $HTTP infront and the _VARS on the end within the files.

Reintjan,

I have been using the .93 version of WebLinks on XOOPS 2.0.16 without any issues. I have customized it too much, so don't see myself upgrading anytime soon.

Hello All

Just note that all weblinks from the 0.xx versions are MySql-query consumers ....
So if you have more then 100 sub/categories ... expect high MySQL load ....

It was fixed in latest versions.

mylinks probably suffers from it too, as it was the weblinks base module.

You might want to try WF-Links 1.03b or WF-Links 1.03c. Both work with PHP5 and can be downloaded from McDonalds Store (see signature).
Dutch language files are available from xoops.nl.

If I may ask, which version do you have running on your website Ronald?
The hacked (needing smartobject) or the other one ?

edit:
Never mind, I see you are running your c version (the flag )

Thank you all for replying!

Thank you Shine for your solution on the Mylinks module. I removed all $HTTP and _VARS from the files and now Mylinks works fine on php5.

Is it an idea to post the updated module to the repository? Perhaps as version 1.11 or something?

Let me know...

Your welcome.
Since I like this simple, yet effective links module also.... hm,...to spare myself some work which somebody already did (also busy in making my website and some modules php5 compatible) perhaps you can send me your revisited mylinks version by mail?
[dutch] zou je er dankbaar voor zijn![/dutch]

Thanks in advance!
