how to remove "modules/modulename" from the mainpage?

Hello. i have been using XOOPS for my site more than two years. my site is wargaming.sk . now i am trying to do some SEO optimizations and my biggest concern is how to remove the "/modules/news" from the main page url. that is because url wargaming.sk/ has google rank 4 and wargaming.sk/modules/news/ has google rank 2.
i see that xoops.org page has done this somehow.

XOOPS.org does not have a module set to display on the home page (Administration Menu > System Admin > Preferences > General Settings > Module for your start page: None )

After that you set up blocks under the system module. I use blocks on all of my sites, because of the SEO issue you mention.

one more thing - is it possible to remove the "/index.php" string from the URL too?

I'm curious, how does setting up blocks under the system module help with SEO? Are you referring to using a custom block for information on the home page? Does it really make that much of a difference? I don't have a module set to display on the home page so I guess I don't understand how it could affect SEO.
