Hello,

I have my site set up so that new user accounts have to be activated by an administrator. How do I make it so that once the administrator activates the account an email will be sent to the user notifying them that their account is now active, and they can log in?

Is this something that can be done automatically, or will I have to manually send an email to each new user?

I understand that if I set it up so that users activate their own accounts, they will receive an email, but I really want to have each new account activated by an administrator.

Thanks in advance,
Justin

Yes - when the accounts are set to admin activation an email is sent to them when you activate.

I have mine set to admin activation and emails are not automatically sent to the user after activating. This is with both 2.0.16 and 2.2.4. Did I misunderstand?

Do you receive an email that a new user has registered with a link to activate the user?

Click on the link in that email and the notification email will get sent to your users.

If you activate through the administration menu of your site they will not

skenow,

Users are not receiving an email after the admin activates the account. I thought they would, but they are not... not sure why.

Anyone???

ok, here is the issue in more detail.

We want our users' usernames to be "firstname lastname".

By default, users are not allowed to have a space in their username.

To remedy this, we ask that they register with whatever they want as their username, and once they register we will activate their account and change their username to "firstname lastname".

An email is not being sent to the users letting them know that their account is now active.

Which method do you use to activate? See my earlier post

Skenow,

ok, so I just created a test user and activated using the email sent to my admin account.

A notification email was sent out. So I stand corrected.

Since you seem to know what you are doing, maybe you can help me even further.

It would be great if new users could just create their accounts with the username in this format "first last" to begin with, instead of me having to change it. Is that possible?

Thanks for the help,
Justin
