A total beginner with a not so new problem, as I've seen browsing forums. As with other people I upload XOOPS htdocs-folder to my hosted server (at http://www.surftown.com), and when I try to open my site I only get a http 403 problem saying I have to "log in" to be able to get to this folder/file.

Other people have posted the same problem but the answers given to the either doesn't work or doesn't make sense to me. Does anyone know if it can have something to do with the writability in my folders, that php safe is on (I'm guessing it is) or something else I can try. Or in the worst case scenario... Can anyone direct me to another free CMS that is equal, or almost equal, to XOOPS?

Grateful for any input into the matter!

/Klas

If you uploade the htdocs folder with all the files in it. Then to install it you will need to go to w w w.yoursite.com/htdocs. Because all of the XOOPS files and installation files are in that folder. So if you didn't upload the files in the folder to your root directory and you made a directory called htdocs then you have to go to w w w . yoursite.com/htdocs. Is that what you are talking about?

Actually I've tried uploading the files in the folder and accessing it through http://www.mydomain.com/htdocs, I've also tried uploadin the files directly under my domain and also to my root folder in ftp (meaning that my server has a root with two folders, one for the webfiles (http://www.domain.com) and one for an attached forum (forum.domain.com).

Nothing works. Ane clues?

nope. did you double check your CHMOD folder settings for the /htdocs directories of cache templates_c uploads and the file mainfile.php to ensure they are set to 777 ?
