Drupal, xoops, phpp why they all failed?

They have been developing since the start of the internet, maybe a while after the forum, but until today they are all failed. Why?

They failed to concentrate on the member community, lack of members interaction fails them miserably even newer system coming out every year. New site like youtube.com myspace.com yahoo.com member can interact with one another to share stuffs. They keep people coming back everytime..

Instead of all the new modules coming out, why don't XOOPS concentrate more on the member interaction. Like add a story to favorite, add member, post a page, and other feature like that of youtube, myspace?. Most of uswho use XOOPS all run on a community base anyway..

I'm new, but represent the new age of internet, old programmers!

In my humble opinion, if XOOPS concentrate more on user interaction XOOPS would have won the contest way over other system :)

XOOPS, is first as an project, not a product.
It relies on you how to formulate the product outputs to a product fitting your requirements, with whatever features at whatever level of quality.

"concentrate more on user interaction", it would be an important application direction of XOOPS if possible, but not the whole XOOPS.

BTW: applications with myspace-like features have been done or are bing worked on. You could also make your own such applications.

How can you compare XOOPS with a social interaction site like Myspace or a video sharing site like Youtube? It makes no sense :(

Lets please not turn XOOPS into a MySpace style CMS, then it wouldn't be the framework that it currently is.
The interaction stuff falls on module developers, not so much the core developers. For example, you can easily make a YouTube like module in XOOPS, provided your familar with PHP.

I don't think XOOPS was ever envisioned as a youtube or myspace. These are specific applications where member interaction is a key goal, and the underlying software was probably built from the ground up specifically for that purpose.

xoops is more like a frammework that you can build on to make a range of applications and integrate them, both interactive and non-interactive. A lot of people do not want members because they run passive webpages! Depends on your goals.

A business/personal directory module for all those who are using the XOOPS frameworks (not involved in creating XOOPS but using it for business/personal purposes) might make an interesting addition. There users, with XOOPS in common might get together and share touting their wares and hanging out in an XOOPS community lounge.
