I have this same issue, as do all my users. I'd like to switch to phpBB instead, I just need to figure out how to export my data.

viewforum.php and index.php both include an incorrect link for newposts with "new=1", this should be
"type=new"

$xoopsTpl->assign('newpost_link', "viewpost.php?type=new&forum=".$forum_obj->getVar('forum_id'));

Hi. Many thx for your post. Just to clarify - is this a qualified fix for this problem? This feature has not worked in any of the CBB 3.* releases. It has been widely reported, has never been fixed and still doesn't work in the latest version of CBB (AFAIK). I can't test it at present, but will be great if this does the trick.
A thread is for life. Not just for Christmas.

I am not sure what you mean by a qualified fix. I haven't read hardly anything on this site. I only registered to post that I had fixed this problem.

I just installed XOOPS and cbb because a sight I frequent uses it and there was no link to view the first unread post in a topic so I thought I could add it (which I have now done).

While I was reading the code, I realized that it was a simple mistake that made the view new posts link not work.

So, I made the change. Really, it was pretty obvious from the code for viewpost.php what the link should have been.

Hopefully this fix works for other people.

The Jan 2 update 3.08 corrects the link. This should no longer be a problem in future versions.

I'd like to think they read my post, since the two files I named got corrected but viewall.php and viewpost.php didn't (which they certainly would have found with a simple text search of the source)

I guess it is my mistake for not giving an exhaustive answer!

Thank you for your answers on this bug TheCleric, my users and specially my moderators thank you for this on their bare knees

As I read the above posting of you I suspect you found more bugs, could/would you explain these?
