How to apply a theme (not in block)?

XOOPS Version: XOOPS 2.0.16
Module Name/Version: N/A
PHP Version: 4.4
MySQL Version: Not sure, but shouldn't matter
Web Server Software (Apache/IIS/Other): Apache/1.3.36
Operating System: Windows XP Home
Theme you are using: Default/phpkaox
Custom template: No
PHP Debug Messages: N/A
MySQL Debug Messages: N/A
Smarty Debug Messages: N/A
A full description of the issue:

I'm making a website (fresh install, only a few days online now), and can't find a way to apply a theme user-widely, that is select a theme through "Edit Account" or something like that, not through the Theme block, as it remembers the theme only for a session, so if I log out/in, it loses the theme. I know that there was an option to add the select in XOOPS 2.0.14 (through Preferences -> Extended Profiles), but there isn't anything in the 2.0.16 version. I can't find any modules as well, and the SmartObjects don't work because it's run on PHP 4.4.

So: how to make that the system would remember what theme has a user selected?

There is no way. Extended profile existed in 2.2.x not 2.0.1x, so far as I know anyway.

Then maybe there is another way to make the system remember which theme did the user select?

In 2.0.16, there is a field in the user table called 'theme'. Currently, it appears to be the default theme and I don't know what sets it. The database is ready for this, but I'm not sure what the status of the code is.

Thanks snow77, it seems to be working. Although I didn't finish checking it, but hopefully it will work smoothly.

Is there another option for this feature? I have tried the tema mod, which is the same as xt-themes, but it isn't working for me. I am using XOOPS version 2.0.13.1.
