What's a good code text editor to use?

I was using something called Pfe which worked good but the word wrap function is not working right and this makes it very cumbersome to work with. Now I am using Notepad and of course it doesn't have what I need. The need for identifying line #s fur example. :)

I have downloaded Notepad ++ but not installed it yet. Is or has anyone used it before? Do you know of a better one to use? I don't need to many bells a whistles. As most of you already know, I gets confused easily.

Weaverslave is a nice one! My favourite tool a while ago.

Thanks a bunch Frank! I check it out.
Now ya got my curiosity up, "awhile ago". What be your fav now? Does it have a sauna, air conditioning, and big screen tv embedded or offered as plug-ins?

I use now Eclipse with the phpeclipse-plugin plus some other useful plugins. Eclipse is a powerful tool, but if you want to do only some small code changes, then Weaverslave is the perfect tool (if you don't need project management).

Didn't know about Weaverslave - looks quite capable.

I have not yet found Eclipse usable, due to its Java nature of having a project somewhere fixed where you build new stuff. I like to be able to have my PHP code anywhere I want and load it into a project without the files moving around.

It may be that Eclipse supports that, but I haven't figured it out yet.

My own preference is Zend Studio - it is expensive, but an awesome tool with many functions such as direct FTP and SQL browsing. It also has CVS and SVN integrated, although I have yet to get that working properly.

I actually have an editor running off a usb pen That way I can take my code and editor with me, plus it's freeware:

It's very small code wise but does an excellent job.

Weaverslave is all I use any more after trying loads...it also work with Top-style lite to have full CSS and html at hand...
