Hi,

Running the latest version of Xoops, is there any way to allow users to upload files? I know its a dumb question, but I can find lots of informaton on allowing downloads, but not about allowing uploads!

Thanks!

Depends what you need, picture upload is included in image manager...and also CBB and Article....you can choose the list of what is allowed as extensions...

If you need a directory of downloads, some of these have builtin upload systems also...

Basically to allow uploads other then images you need some sort of module to upload it....

Or use something like WF-Downloads which is for this purpose.

you can also use wf-downloads 3.1 from http://www.smartfactory.com

3.2 will be released this month hopefully (which will have a few more features and improvements)

I think on modules like wf downloads and smart section you can set permission for who can upload and what file types they need to be. Check those out for starters

I've got Smart Sections and WF-Downloads and cannot figure out how you actually do the uploading. I see no place where the user can enter the name of a file to upload. I know it's really dumb, but I can't find anything....

Re: Uploads?

Well for starters you need to give permission for them to create articles/upload files. On the user menu on the left when they click for example your smart section they will get a sub menu with 'submit' - then they can start writing and article and attach a file to it. There is an 'upload file' sections on the form.

The same happens with downloads. When you click it in the menu you you get a 'submit' There is a disclaimer and then a form but the uploading user would have to have the file already on a website. I see what you mean here about no upload button but mine is old and i am the only one with permision so mine get ftp'd anyway. This may be different in new versions. HTH

module preferences.. turn allow user uploads on (yes) and select permissions for downloads/uploads & mirror submissions..

wf-d 3.2 (coming soon!) will be a bit clearer and slightly more organised in the preferences section.
