howdy.

I have made a local copy of my xoops/newbb, but somehow, have lost my login information in the transition. can I change the permissions on my forum from closed to open by editing a file? if so, what file, and what should I edit?

thanks!

Re: changing forum permissions

First it is not about change a file but doing things with your tables. I think you need to retrieve your login information.
Your password is encrypted so you need a new one to be set.

Xoops will issue you with new login information provided you can provide the email address you used. So - open your XOOPS and press lost password to get another created. I think the email you get will also provide you with your user name.

Alternatively check this

Thanks, but neither of these two suggestions worked. I
am still unable to login, and XOOPS fails to email me
account info.

my purposes would be served if I could just change
whatever value that restricts viewing the forums to
only registered users. I would like anybody (me) to
see them. I don't really need to administer anything.

thanks again.

It will be one of the tables but i couldn't tell you which one - I don't know enough about them.

Sorry was going to say the other day, yet didn't find it quickly and something else popped up...yet do believe it is XOOPS config option or XOOPS permissions....

thanks. I looked in both of those tables, tried changing a couple of
likely-sounding values--no go. I can't find what to change, and don't
know what to change it to when I find it...
