The reason why I turned it on was to see what the problem was. I didn't go away

Wow that is strange. There are two admin folders with the Xcgal 2.0.2 version. In my download there was, a admin folder and then an admin v1.1 folder. I only uploaded the plain admin folder with my upload. Not sure if that could be it or not.
You could try downloading the module again from a different mirror and then upload the admin directory again overwriting files and update the module and system.

Be sure to back up your site first!

xcGallery has its own debug mode, which is on by default. You need to go into the administration menu for that module and turn off the debug.

It is off...

But I still get a blank page when I go to the index in the admin section.

I found an old post from from mcleines when I was having a problem with the admin. You might try this and see if it works.

From mcleines:
Quote:
The admin section is build in a different way in XOOPS 2.2.x and xcgal 2.0.2 was originally adapted to this XOOPS version.

But this bug is fixed in next xcgal version. A solution in the meantime could be taking the files in folder 'admin' of xcgal 1.1.

Make backup first!
