How to install Xoops?

I uploaded all the files to the server (in "110MB.com"). But after I entered "install/", I saw the following respones:

Warning: main(): Unable to access ./passwd.php in /home/vhosts/...... on line 30

Warning: main(./passwd.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/vhosts/...... on line 30

Warning: main(): Failed opening './passwd.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /home/vhosts/...... on line 30

Notice: Use of undefined constant INSTALL_USER - assumed 'INSTALL_USER' in /home/vhosts/...... on line 31

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/vhosts/mph.110mb.com/public_html/htdocs/install/index.php:30) in /home/vhosts/...... on line 33

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/vhosts/......) in /home/vhosts/...... on line 34
You can not access this XOOPS installer.

How should I do next? Is the "110MB.com" doesn't allow me use Xoops?

Thanks!

Have you read the installation manual at XOOPS documentation and the beginners first steps at FAQ? Please use the read before you post to give us more details about your setup if you still have issues.

Thanks for help. After I read the FAQ, I found the following instruction:

“It is important to upload the folders and files correctly using the correct structure. If you wish to have XOOPS launch in the root of your web site you need to upload the files and folders contained in the HTML folder to your web root. Not the HTML folder itself.”

But I didn't have the HTML folder after I unziped the download file. Something wrong with my folder?

Thanks for help!

Re: How to install Xoops?

xoops 2.0.14 should have this when you unzip it:

docs - folder
htdocs - folder
upgrade - folder
mainfile.php
releasenotes
xoops.md5
xoops_md5

The htdocs folder is the one with your XOOPS core files and is the 'html' folder. It has a new name.

is it possible to tell me which FAQ you fot this from? Thanks

Sorry, It is the "Xoops for Dummies" not the FAQ. But it is there now: http://www.macambridge.com/dummies/

I changed my webhosting service from 110mb.com to ZACCUM.com. Because I found a website which use XOOPS is running well on that server. But after I uploaded all the files in the htdocs folder to the web root and ran the setup I got the result as follow:

XOOPS root path not defined

Could you tell me what's wrong with my installation? Thanks!

check this faq your host should have provided you with the root path.

Grab the installation doc from the documentation website and check these tutorials : For Visual tutorials please go here

Thank you.

I found that if I use "www.domain.com/install" instead of "www.domain.com", it can work. Otherwise not. Maybe it really depends on the server.

I installed the system and other modules to the web server. In the end, it was Ok.

But today, the ZACCUM.com automatically link to http://www.mymonavie.com/proactive/ . All the things gone! I have to find another server.

Anyway, thanks for your help! I will come here if I have any problems or experience.
