Try downloading a new your version of XOOPS full, from a different location than before. Extract the files and upload only the system module from the newly downloaded XOOPS version overwriting the one you have installed now. Then, if necessary try updating the system again.
You could have just had a hick-up in the XOOPS version files. Worth a shot. I've seen it work before...

nope, nothing changed

I even made a fresh install froma file downloaded from a different location than the first, still no go...

do you have any advise between installed modules and not installed list??? have you got any other XOOPS installed?

If you are a begginer... and you just want to taste XOOPS and you are using Windows... try XSAS ... http://xsas.sourceforge.net/ ... is ready to use...

If youw want to be using the most recent MySQL and php in your local install setup try the wamp5 local server program. If you want help with set up let me know. XSAS hasn't been updated since april 2004.

Move all modules subfolders out of there except for system.

Then copy just one folder after another back in there. After every folder check if the module is displayed modules admin section then.
If yes continue one by one and see which one stops the rest from being displayed.
