Hi Folks,

A few questions about Protector. This part here:
Modules out of DoS/Crawler checker
set the dirnames of the modules separated with |. This option will be useful with chatting module etc.

I am using FlashChat. Though not exactly a XOOPS module, it is still hooked in somehow with the user ids. Should I add it to the Modules of of DoS/Crawler checker field? If so, how?

Next question - I see a list of my IPs as well as another member listed on this page: /modules/protector/admin/index.php?num=20&pos=20

I take it these are listed for a reason yet they are actually good IPs. Why are they listed here? Good...bad..? It is only from one day. Strange. I've been on everyday - all day.

We have just opened the site and members are logging on and seem to enjoy the CMS and all XOOPS has to offer. I just want to make sure they aren't somehow bounced out because I've set up Protector incorrectly.

Thanks!

One of the things that Protector works on is DOS attacks. Now the problem with this is that theoretically a rapid sucession of cicks with pages that have a lot of things that load can be interpreted as a DOS attack. There could be other reasons as well. My best advice would be if you are certain an IP address is okay, remove it from the list.

Thanks, Swain. Would it be good to add the IPs to the reliable IP field in the preferences? Too bad I can't set it to ignore all registered members' actions as this is a membership association site and members must go through an approval and payment process. We know they aren't going to attack the site in any way (well, pretty sure LOL!).

I think it would be okay to add them. At least it would save you and your users any headaches.
