How to upgrade from 2.0.11 to 2.0.13

Hi there

I am currently using 2.0.11

I have been looking at the downloads trying to figure out if I can just install 2.0.13 or if there are other versions that I must install first.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

easiest way:

STEP 1: make a full backup from your site: files and database! I warned you.

download the latest 2.0.x stable release (at this time 2.0.14). Unpack the archive, and remove the following files from the package:

htdocs/mainfile.php
htdocs/install/ (complete folder and all files in it)

Next, upload all files from the htdocs/ folder onto your webserver, overwriting the 2.0.11 files with the ones from the package!

Then, login to your site as admin, go to system admin -> modules and 'update' the system module.

That should do the trick!

There are a couple extra steps to go to 2.0.14.
Herko's instruction are perfect to upgrade to 2.0.13.2 directly from 2.0.11.

1. Copy the content of the htdocs/ folder except mainfile.php over your existing installation.
2. Delete the following folders and files:
* class/smarty/core
* class/smarty/plugins/resource.db.php
3. Empty the templates_c folder (except index.html)
4. Upload the upgrade folder to your site
5. Ensure the server can write to mainfile.php
6. Login using an administrator account
7. Access <your.site.url>/upgrade/ using your browser, and follow the instructions
8. Write-protect mainfile.php again
9. Remove the upgrade folder after use

Can I use Herkos instructions to go to 2.0.13.2?

his instructions seem so much easier then the ones
Lance posted about going to 2.0.14... those ones I do not totally understand.

I updated my Forums Module too and now I have newbb instead of newbb2.... why is that.... can I just install newbb2 again?

Since that accidently "downgrade" of the forum should not modify the database it should work to just overwrite the files with your previous version of newbb2. Then update the module again in system admin/modules and you should be ok.


(just in case ... did you backup anything (db/files) before starting to upgrade?)

If you unsintall, it will delete all DB table, in essence wiping out your forum posts(if any).

Delete all files in templates_c(except index.html) and update the module with the newbb2 files.

It should fix it, if it doesn't you might have done something else also??
