Just a quick note to warn that Porn spammers are currently targetting anonymous comments.

If you allow anonymous to comment in any area of your site you need to be aware that it is open to abuse by these people and it could lead to severe embarrasment.
I might not be very clever but I can lift heavy weights!

my site was the victim.
they targed on weblog track back
its spam with porn sites.

i didn't realise it until one of the member asked me about it.

I really would recommend disabling anonymous posting to anyone...

The spammers are not only targeting comment sections.
I just had a look at the bug tracker of SmartSection at SourceForge.net and found almost more spam then bugs in the list.

I've been having this problem for the last couple of weeks on my site. I allow anonymous comments, but I have gone to moderating them.

It is a little more time consuming to delete each pending spam comment individually, but I am not sure what else to do. I use my site as a blog and don't want people to have to register to post a comment.

So, for now I sit and delete and confirm, delete and confirm...

You can't stop spammers - except to make people register.

It's the only real way of controlling it to any level.
