tar gz file (Downloading Theme)

I noticed it says that the template must be a .tar.gz file, however when i download the temp from XOOPS site it downloads as a zip file. is thier a way to change this???
Please help

templates are templates.

themes are themes, u upload themes via FTP or from your servers file manager.

(Monty is quite correct themes and templates are two different things. )
